A Good Snowfall

Oh how happy I am when we get at least one good snowfall here in the Southeast. Especially when it happens over a weekend!

I am a homebody by nature, and snow days call for nesting and being indoors, for reading and game playing, for soup-making and snuggling with doggies -- and even for house cleaning, which I plan to do (at some point) today.

Snow days are perfect for time outdoors, too. The world is so much quieter when there's a blanket of snow on the ground. Birds and squirrels are plentiful at the feeders. Watching birds in the winter is one of my favorite things to do. They are so active and easy to spot in the snow. The cardinals are especially pretty.

If you're having a snowy weekend, I hope you are enjoying it. Stay safe and warm!

    1. Thanks, Kathy. Tomorrow and Monday the temperatures are supposed to be in the 20s so ice will be the concern. Fortunately I can walk to work and Yaktrax on my shoes will keep me from slipping.

  2. I am sad to say that I have been out on the roads going to and from the hospital. My husband had a major heart attack on Dec 27 and was in a coma until TR this week. I was sad that we two were not tucked up at home enjoying the snow weekend. We love a snowed in weekend.

  3. While I appreciate a nice gentle snowfall on a weekend, it was -2F here this AM. And yes, the landscape is white as far as the eye can see!

Indeed a time for industrial cocooning. The wood stove is lit and before long the entire house will be cozy again.

I went and picked up 4 novels yesterday. Perfect to while away these shorter days.

Stay warm and off the roads! Enjoy your Sunday!

    1. I know it's a lot different for you up there in Canada, Ann. Here, snow and really cold temperatures are uncommon. Currently it's 18 degrees and isn't expected to get above 25 today. But late next week we are going to have temps in the low 60s. Crazy! What are you reading? I am going to finish my current book, and hoped to start a new one today but the library is closed this weekend due to the weather. Even Barnes & Noble was closed yesterday. That's life in the South when it snows!

  5. While we have no snow in Jacksonville Florida we are all hunkered down with the heat on as temps dipped into the 20's over night! Love looking at snow on the computer but give me back my warm sunny days! I left NY for a reason :):). Enjoy the beauty of the snow!

  6. I enjoy a good blizzard once or twice a season. I work for the local schools, so what I really love is a good snow day - day off school. Obviously, my preference would be for the storm to be during the week

  7. We got that snow and yes, the ice. Our village does nothing to any of the sidewalks OR streets (!!) so we just hunker down until it melts... which is fine with me! I too am a homebody and have loved just being here! Husband not so much. Hopefully, tomorrow it will thaw enough to attempt to drive out to the main roads.

    1. Hi, Libby. By yesterday afternoon I was getting a bit stir crazy. Hubby and I went for a walk with the dogs. At first, our beagle wasn't so keen on the idea, but then she picked up the pace and enjoyed it. Both dogs were running with my husband down the middle of the streets that were clear of snow and ice. Our dogs love the cold weather! And Henry seem to enjoy the snow.
