New McCoy Pieces

I went shopping recently at a local antiques mall in search of a vintage planter for a coworker's birthday. I wanted to fill it with little succulent plants. I knew she likes vintage things, but I wasn't sure if she would like colored planters (like the green and yellow ones I collect), so I chose a simple white one from the 1970s (not shown here).

While on the hunt for a gift, I found a couple of items for myself that I just couldn't resist! This white McCoy planter was marked $12, but I received a nice surprise at the cash register. It was on sale for $9.60! I filled it with some of the same succulents I purchased for my coworker. Aren't they precious? If you like succulents, check out my Pinterest board!

I also found a white McCoy vase that is 7.25" tall. It was marked $10 but was on sale for $8.00. What a find! I can't wait until our dahlias bloom so I can cut some for this cute vase.

What new bargains have you found for your home?

  1. We found a Jura Impressa coffee maker which retails for $1000 for $20 at thrift store. Our son has a Jura or we would not have given it a second glance but when I saw it I about fell over. We snatched it up quick!

    1. Wow, what a deal! I wasn't familiar with Jura either, and just looked it up. Such a pretty machine! I wouldn't have room for it in my kitchen, though.

    2. It would not have seemed that we had room either but we got rid of all our other coffee equipment and we actually have less on our counters in the end. We had a regular Mr. Coffee and a Keurig and a canister for ground coffee and a canister for K cups. Our son actually had his on a coffee bar in his dining room until they moved into a larger house 2 years ago. Since we were familiar with the amazing coffee we were determined to make it work no matter what!!

  3. No bargains here, but you certainly found some lovely ones. By the way, I am copying your front planter that you recently posted about. I have most of the plants (just have to find the fucshia), just haven't planted them yet as it's still a little two cool. I have two large terra cotta pots (that I found last year at an estate sale for a song), so I'm doing two.

    1. Nice! I'd love to see a photo of your planters when they're done. What area do you live in? Our weather here has been cool and very wet. But it feels like spring, instead of plunging right into summer, so I'm not complaining!

  4. I will send you a photo when they're done. I live in Wisconsin. I made the mistake of planting my half whiskey barrel a couple weeks ago and now am covering it night after night . . .

  5. Nice score! I'm sure your coworker loved her gift.

I was at our local flea market this weekend and finally purchased a copper wash-basin to put kindling in. I've been wanting one for decades. While it wasn't "start the car" cheap, it was fairly priced. Win/win.
