He told me many years ago the reason that SW was such a better paint was the metal they used in the white base coat. Of course, lead was the absolute best, but, there was that problem with kids eating it, etc. Even though I pay a whole lot more, I'll only buy SW.

I'm enjoying your blog--so glad I found it while searching for green bungalows!Quin Brownehttp://quinbrowne-words.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-16532348239727679602015-02-07T08:58:54.457-05:002015-02-07T08:58:54.457-05:00I tend to select paint color very quickly and try ...I tend to select paint color very quickly and try to go with my first instinct. So hard thoug because swatches are rarely true. But Ive found for me I make the best decisions when I don't allow myself to overthink it. I learned this watching my
mother agonize over the right white for TEN YEARS. Sometimes she would repaint the dining room (always the first room she'd test) every day. Haha she has her white paint color formula literally in a safety deposit box along with other important paperwork. She then went through a similar struggle with the right blue. Her perfect blue, and Ive used it too (why not benefit from her experiment?!), is SW monorail silver. So should you ever need a perfect pale blue with grey undertones, that is your winner. It looks grey when you first apply, but the blue comes out when it dries.
Good luck with the rest of the reno! Paul is now sick with a cold, so I'm afraid progress on the mudroom will have to wait until he's feeling better.

We were at Edisto Oct. 11-18, so we were arriving the day you were flying out of Savannah. I've never been to Savannah, but have heard great things. It's a bit too far from Edisto for a day trip (even Beaufort was an hour and a half, which was really too long; we had to get back for the dogs). I just love that area. It feels like a second home to me. Next time you're in the area, let me know and we'll try our best to meet up!
ClaudiaMy Little Bungalowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17661291354573889109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-91944790938780791552015-02-05T01:12:04.256-05:002015-02-05T01:12:04.256-05:00Hi Claudia, I am excited to see the mudroom rehab ...Hi Claudia, I am excited to see the mudroom rehab starting. I love the colors and the idea of that light fixture in black. Go Paul! I love SW colors but have not used their paint so glad to know you like it. Their collection of greys and greiges and unsaturated colors is incredible. They are totally underrated. I have whole stacks of their color chips.
I thought of you when we drove past the sign to Edisto from the main highway (you'd emailed me about it!!) I told David and we wanted to drive out but didn't get a chance. Too much else to see and do. But then wouldn't you know when he met his relic hunting guide, he had to go meet the guy on the road to Edisto. I kept thinking of you there!!
We were in Beaufort off and on over the 10 days, from Oct.1 to 11th. If I missed meeting you there I will be so sad! But we plan to go back (David was looking at flights to Savannah today) so we will have to meet next time. Haha. I still don't know what city you are in so you will have to email and tell me, or maybe you did and I am losing my marbles.
Glad you enjoyed the post and so very cool that we both walked the same streets. I love that we have this kindred connection!

xo TerriWindlosthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17014227226507484798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-48821623365696780962015-02-03T21:26:34.776-05:002015-02-03T21:26:34.776-05:00Thanks, Ann. We'll be scraping up as much of it as we can get off, and will cover the rest with latex floor paint. It's not meant to be a permanent solution, but will look so much better until we one day renovate the kitchen and replace the flooring there. We'll use the same flooring in the mudroom, most likely.

The mudroom used to be an exterior alcove or screened in porch, with an entrance to the kitchen where the doorway now is. This also explains the original 1922 exterior window in the mudroom that looks into what is now the laundry/pantry space. At some point in time that space was enclosed into a "mudroom."My Little Bungalowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17661291354573889109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-51105507267610777732015-02-03T19:42:46.340-05:002015-02-03T19:42:46.340-05:00Love, love, love your colours! What kind of wood ...Love, love, love your colours! What kind of wood is the floor made of? Are you using a special formulation made especially for wood?

We've had a few floor varnishing and painting "episodes" in our old house, the kind that could make anyone prematurely gray...

Choosing a good colour is hard! I'm sure Paul's choices are spot-on.Shim Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18148782353052767022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-62067765553097294892015-02-03T19:09:16.149-05:002015-02-03T19:09:16.149-05:00Thanks, Jeannine!Thanks, Jeannine!My Little Bungalowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17661291354573889109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6855559240091587971.post-10723142896864976312015-02-03T19:02:59.358-05:002015-02-03T19:02:59.358-05:00Great colors.
